Durga Chalisa is one of the most popular devotional bhajan song of Goddess Durga. Durga is an incarnation of Goddess Parvathi Devi. Durga Chalisa comprises of 40 verses each addressing the great Durga Maa.
These verses are usually recited or chanted by groups. The acts and deeds of Sri Durga are recalled in these verses to aid the devotee to meditate on virtuous and noble qualities.
In Hinduism, the goddess Durga or Maa Durga (Mother Durga) "one who can redeem in situations of utmost distress". Durga is a form of Devi, the supremely radiant goddess, a superheroine depicted as having 10 arms, riding a lion or a tiger, carrying weapons (including a Lotus flower), maintaining a meditative smile, and practicing mudras, or symbolic hand gestures.
